This guide shows you how to add new devices to Leanheat Monitor from an existing Ally integration, and how to remove devices you no longer want to manage in Leanheat Monitor.
Adding Devices to Leanheat Monitor
When you add new devices to your Ally Home or want to import devices you previously skipped, use this process to bring them into Leanheat Monitor.
Before you start: New devices must first be commissioned in the Ally App. Once they appear in your Ally Home, you can import them to Leanheat Monitor.
Step 1: Access Device Connection
- Go to Device Administration
- Click + Connect
- Select Connect Ally devices
Step 2: Sync to See Available Devices
- Click Please select integration
- Select your Ally Home (e.g., "BuildingA")
- Click Sync
The system retrieves the current device list from your Ally Home. New devices that aren't yet in Leanheat Monitor appear in the "Available devices" panel on the left.
Step 3: Select Devices to Add
- In "Available devices", select the new devices you want to add
- Click the right arrow to move them to "Selected devices"
- Click Apply
- Click Close when the confirmation appears
The newly added devices now appear in your Device Administration list and begin syncing data immediately.
Removing Devices from Leanheat Monitor
You can remove devices from Leanheat Monitor without affecting them in the Ally App. The devices remain commissioned in Ally and return to full Ally App control.
⚠️ Important: Removing devices from Leanheat Monitor does NOT delete or decommission them in the Ally App. They simply stop being managed by Leanheat Monitor.
Method 1: Remove Individual Devices
Use this method if you only need to remove a few devices:
- Go to Device Administration
- Find the device you want to remove
- Click the trash icon next to the device name
- Confirm deletion
- Repeat for each device you want to remove
Method 2: Remove Multiple Devices
Use this method if you need to remove many devices at once:
- Go to Device Administration
- Click + Connect
- Select Connect Ally devices
- Click Please select integration
- Select your Ally Home (e.g., "BuildingA")
- Click Sync
You'll see two panels:
- Available devices: Devices in Ally Home not currently in Leanheat Monitor
- Selected devices: Devices currently managed in Leanheat Monitor
To remove devices:
- In "Selected devices" panel, select the devices you want to remove
- Click the left arrow to move them to "Available devices"
- Click Apply
- Confirm the removal
The devices disappear from Leanheat Monitor's device list.
What Happens When You Remove Devices
In Leanheat Monitor:
- Device disappears from device list
- Historical data remains stored but device becomes inaccessible
- Alarm rules for that device stop triggering
- Dashboard widgets showing that device display "No data"
- Area assignments for that device are removed
In Ally App:
- Device regains full control in Ally App
- "Home control via Data Integration" banner disappears
- You can adjust temperature, schedules, and modes directly in Ally App
- Device continues operating with its last settings
- Device remains commissioned in your Ally Home
Re-adding Previously Removed Devices
If you removed a device and want to add it back to Leanheat Monitor:
- Follow the "Adding Devices" process above
- The device appears in "Available devices" after you sync
- Select it and move it to "Selected devices"
- Click Apply
The device returns to Leanheat Monitor control. You'll need to reconfigure:
- Device classifications and tags
- Area assignments
- Alarm rules
- Dashboard widgets
Current temperature setpoints and schedules from the Ally App import automatically.
Device Management Best Practices
💡 Tips for managing devices:
- Remove devices before decommissioning them in Ally App to avoid orphaned entries
- Use device tags to mark devices you plan to remove later
- Document which devices are managed where (Ally App vs Leanheat Monitor)
- Clean up alarm rules after removing devices to avoid false alerts
- Update dashboards after removing devices to remove "No data" widgets
Common Scenarios
Scenario: Replacing a Faulty Device
- Remove the old device from Leanheat Monitor
- Decommission the old device in Ally App
- Commission the new device in Ally App
- Add the new device to Leanheat Monitor
- Reconfigure device settings, area assignments, and alarms
Scenario: Seasonal Building Closure
- Remove devices for the closed building from Leanheat Monitor
- Manage those devices in Ally App during closure
- Re-add devices to Leanheat Monitor when building reopens
Scenario: Transferring Building to Different Management
- Remove all devices for that building from Leanheat Monitor
- Export any necessary historical data before removal
- New management can integrate the Ally Home to their own Leanheat Monitor tenant
Troubleshooting
Problem: Can't Find Device in "Available devices"
Verify device is commissioned in Ally App. Check you selected the correct Ally Home. Try clicking Sync again to refresh the list.
Problem: Device Won't Delete
Check if device has active alarms - resolve or delete alarms first. Verify you have admin permissions. Try refreshing the page and attempting deletion again.
Problem: Removed Device Still Shows in Dashboard
Dashboard widgets don't automatically update. Edit your dashboard and remove or reconfigure widgets that reference the deleted device.
Problem: Re-added Device Shows Incorrect Settings
Device imports current settings from Ally App. Check Ally App to verify temperature setpoints and schedules are correct. Update settings in Leanheat Monitor after import if needed.
