This guide shows you how to import devices from your Ally Home into Leanheat Monitor after integration is enabled. You'll select which devices to manage and sync them between the two systems.
Before you start: Make sure you've already created and enabled the Ally integration. If you haven't, see the article "How to Create and Enable Ally Integration" first.
Understanding Device Import
When you connect an Ally Home to Leanheat Monitor, you choose which devices to import. You don't have to import all devices—you can select only the ones you want to manage in Leanheat Monitor. Devices not imported remain fully controllable in the Ally App.
What gets imported:
- Device name (as set in Ally App)
- Device type (Gateway, Repeater, eTRV, Room Sensor)
- Current temperature setpoints
- Current mode (Manual or Schedule)
- Current schedules (if in Schedule mode)
- Device serial number
- Room assignments (if configured in Ally App)
Connect Ally Home and Import Devices
Step 1: Access Device Administration
- Log in to Leanheat Monitor
- Click Device Administration in the main navigation
Step 2: Start Connection Process
- Click + Connect
- Select Connect Ally devices
Step 3: Select Integration
- Click Please select integration
- Select your Ally Home from the dropdown (e.g., "BuildingA")
- Click Sync
The sync process retrieves all available devices from the selected Ally Home. This may take a few seconds depending on how many devices you have.
Step 4: Select Devices to Import
You'll see a split-panel interface:
- Left side: "Available devices" - Devices in your Ally Home not yet connected to Leanheat Monitor
- Right side: "Selected devices" - Devices you're choosing to import
To select devices:
- Check the boxes next to devices you want to import
- Or click Select all to import all devices
- Or use the Search bar to find specific devices by name
- Click the right arrow to move selected devices to "Selected devices"
To remove devices from selection:
- Select devices in the "Selected devices" panel
- Click the left arrow to move them back to "Available devices"
Step 5: Apply Import
- Review your selected devices
- Click Apply
- A confirmation message appears showing devices claimed for connection
- Click Close
Step 6: Verify Devices Imported
Your newly connected devices now appear in the Device Administration tab. You can see them in the devices list with their names, types, and online/offline status.
What Happens to Imported Devices
- Devices appear in Leanheat Monitor's device list immediately
- Real-time data starts syncing (temperature, battery level, status)
- You can now control setpoints and schedules from Leanheat Monitor
- Ally App shows "Home control via Data Integration" banner for these devices
- Historical data begins collecting in Leanheat Monitor
Importing Additional Devices Later
If you add new devices to your Ally Home or want to import devices you initially skipped:
- Go to Device Administration
- Click + Connect → Connect Ally devices
- Select your integration and click Sync
- New devices appear in "Available devices"
- Select and import them using the same process
Managing Multiple Ally Homes
If you have multiple Ally Homes integrated:
- Repeat the connection process for each Ally Home
- When clicking "Please select integration", choose the specific home you want to sync
- Each home's devices import independently
- Use device tags or filters to organize devices by building/home after import
Device Import Best Practices
💡 Tips for smooth device import:
- Import devices in logical groups (by floor, by building, etc.)
- Use the search function if you have many devices
- Verify device names in Ally App before importing (clear names help later)
- Start with a few devices to test the workflow before importing all
- Check that all devices show "Online" status after import
Troubleshooting
Problem: No Devices Show in "Available devices"
Check that integration is enabled in both Leanheat Monitor and Ally App. Verify devices are commissioned in Ally App. Try clicking Sync again.
Problem: Device Shows as Offline After Import
Wait 5-10 minutes for initial sync. Check that device is online in Ally App. Verify Gateway is connected and online.
Problem: Can't Find Specific Device
Use the Search bar to filter by device name. Check device name in Ally App matches what you're searching for. Verify device is assigned to the correct Ally Home.
Problem: Already Imported Devices Show in "Available devices"
These devices may have been removed from Leanheat Monitor. Select and re-import them if needed.
