In this guide you will learn how to a add a Modbus controller to Leanheat® Monitor.
Before adding a Modbus controller to Leanheat® Monitor ensure that there is a device (PC or other) running Danfoss Modbus adapter software in the same network where the device is located in the case of Modbus-TCP and in the case of a Modbus-RTU device ensure that the controller is connected to the device running the Modbus adapter software provided by Danfoss.
The Modbus adapter software ensures a safe and secure connection between the device and Leanheat® Monitor.
It is possible to connect any device/controller communicating with either Modbus-RTU or Modbus-TCP to Leanheat® Monitor. Note that for any device other then ECL a virtual application has to be created manually by the support team and is not done automatically as is the case for ECLs.
To connect a Modbus controller navigate to the "Admin" tab and click "+ Connect" in the top left corner of the screen. In the drop-down menu select "Connect Modbus".
Select the "Site","Gateway" and the connection type used to connect the controller either "Modbus TCP" or "Modbus RTU".
Modbus TCP:
For a TCP connection you have to enter the host (IP), port and the Modbus address of the device.
Modbus RTU:
For an RTU connection you have to enter the parity, baud rate, stop bits, host (device port being used) and the device Modbus address.
In the last step define the device type you are connecting. If you are connecting an ECL select "ECL" otherwise select "MODBUS".
If you are connecting a non ECL device you have to enter the name of the device, define the addressing (base 1 or base 0), a probe register and the register type (Probe register is any existing register in real device used to test the connection between device and gateway).
To finish connecting the device click "Connect" in the bottom right part of the menu.
