This guide will show you how to create a device data relay in Leanheat® Monitor.
A device data relay is used to write one value from a device to one or multiple other devices. It can also be used to share the outdoor/indoor temperature sensors between the ECL controllers.
To create a data relay go to the "Admin" tab and select "Data Relays", the second option in the Admin menu.
Click "Create data relay":
Enter a name for the data relay
Choose the "Device" relay type
Set the readings period (how often the source device updates the target devices).
Minimum allowed: 10 seconds
Note: If your devices are connected via serial Modbus, use a longer readings period to ensure reliable communication.
Select devices
Choose the source device (where the data comes from)
Select one or more target devices (where the data will be written to)
Apply a template (Optional)
You can use a template to automatically fill in register settings:
In the top-right corner of the data relay window, select either:
Outdoor temperature sharing
Indoor temperature sharing
This will automatically populate the register, scaling, and register type fields for all selected devices.
Note: If you add another device after applying the template, you must re-select the template to fill in the new device's settings.
Important: When creating an outdoor temperature sharing data relay, ensure that the SCADA timeout setting on the target ECL controllers is longer than the readings period defined in the data relay.
If the temperature value is not updated within the SCADA timeout period, the target ECLs will automatically revert to using their own temperature sensor.
The default SCADA timeout is 3 minutes. You can adjust this setting in the "Common" menu of the device settings.
Compatibility:
Outdoor temperature sharing works with ECL210/296/310 and ECLx20 controllers.
Indoor temperature sharing works only with ECLx20 controllers.
To save the data relay click "Apply" in the bottom right corner and then click "Save data relay" in the top right corner, to finish the data relay creation.
Editing an existing data relay
To edit a data relay:
Click the data relay you want to change.
Click the "Edit" button (top-right corner).
To update:
The readings period: click the edit icon next to it
The source or target devices: click the edit icon next to the device
Click "Apply" and "Save data relay" after making the changes
