This guide shows you how to adjust temperature setpoints for Ally devices in Leanheat Monitor. You can change setpoints for individual devices or multiple devices at once.
⚠️ Important: Temperature control only works for devices in Manual mode or Schedule mode. The mode is locked when you enable integration. You cannot switch between Manual and Schedule mode after integration.
Understanding Temperature Setpoints
Ally devices support different setpoint types depending on their mode:
Manual Mode:
- Manual temperature - Single constant setpoint (e.g., 21°C)
Schedule Mode:
- At Home temperature - Setpoint during "At Home" schedule periods
- Away temperature - Setpoint during "Away" schedule periods
- Pause temperature - Setpoint during "Pause" schedule periods
Setpoints represent the target temperature the device tries to maintain. The eTRV adjusts radiator flow to reach this temperature.
Setting Single Device Manual Temperature
For devices in Manual mode, you can adjust the constant temperature setpoint.
Step 1: Select Device
- Go to Devices
- Click on the device you want to adjust
- Verify the device is in Manual mode (shown in Properties tab)
You'll see the current Manual temperature setpoint in the Readouts section (e.g., 20.0°C).
Step 2: Change Temperature
- Click the settings icon
- Click General
- Change Manual temp. (°C) to your desired temperature (e.g., 21.0°C)
- Click Save
Step 3: Verify Change
The new temperature setpoint appears in both Leanheat Monitor and the Ally App within seconds. You can manually refresh the Leanheat Monitor page to see the updated Readouts faster.
Temperature range: Most Ally eTRVs support setpoints from 5°C to 35°C. The exact range depends on your device model.
Setting Single Device Schedule Temperatures
For devices in Schedule mode, you can adjust the three different temperature setpoints.
Step 1: Select Device
- Go to Devices
- Click on the device you want to adjust
- Verify the device is in Schedule mode
You'll see the current schedule setpoints in the Readouts section.
Step 2: Change Schedule Temperatures
- Click the settings icon
- Click Schedule
- You'll see three temperature setpoints:
- At Home temp. - Occupied periods (default often 20°C)
- Away temp. - Unoccupied periods (default often 18°C)
- Pause temp. - Minimal heating periods (default often 15°C)
- Change any temperature you want to adjust
- Click Save after each change
💡 Typical setpoints:
At Home: 20-22°C (comfortable living temperature)
Away: 16-18°C (reduced heating when unoccupied)
Pause: 12-15°C (frost protection only)
Step 3: Verify Changes
The new setpoints sync to both Leanheat Monitor and the Ally App. The device uses whichever setpoint matches the current schedule period.
Setting Multiple Devices Temperature Setpoints
Use bulk operations to change the same setpoint across many devices at once. This is useful for seasonal adjustments or building-wide changes.
Step 1: Access Bulk Operations
- Go to Bulk Operation
Step 2: Select Setpoint Type
Choose which setpoint you want to change:
- Manual setpoint (ALLY) - For devices in Manual mode
- Schedule at home setpoint (ALLY) - At Home temperature
- Schedule away setpoint (ALLY) - Away temperature
- Schedule pause setpoint (ALLY) - Pause temperature
Step 3: Set New Temperature
- Enter the new temperature value (e.g., 19°C)
Step 4: Select Devices
You'll see two panels:
- Available devices - All your devices
- Selected devices - Devices that will receive the new setpoint
To select devices:
- Check boxes next to devices you want to change
- Or click Select all to choose all devices
- Click the right arrow to move them to Selected devices
- Click Next
⚠️ Mode matching: Only select devices in the appropriate mode. Don't try to set "Manual setpoint" on devices in Schedule mode—it won't work. Filter devices by mode first if needed.
Step 5: Review and Apply
- Review the summary showing which devices will change
- Verify the new temperature is correct
- Click Apply changes
The system applies the new setpoint to all selected devices. This may take a few seconds per device depending on how many you selected.
Verifying Setpoint Changes
After changing setpoints, verify they applied correctly:
- Wait 1-2 minutes for sync to complete
- Check a few devices to confirm new setpoints appear
- Verify in Ally App if desired (setpoints should match)
If a device shows the old setpoint after 5 minutes, check that it's online and communicating with the Gateway.
Temperature Control Best Practices
💡 Tips for managing setpoints:
- Make small adjustments (1-2°C) and observe results before further changes
- Use bulk operations for seasonal adjustments (winter/summer transitions)
- Set Away temperature 2-4°C below At Home temperature for energy savings
- Set Pause temperature at least 12°C to prevent freezing pipes
- Document setpoint changes for future reference
- Consider tenant comfort feedback when adjusting temperatures
Troubleshooting
Problem: Setpoint Change Doesn't Apply
Check device is online. Verify device mode matches setpoint type (Manual vs Schedule). Wait 5 minutes and refresh the page.
Problem: Temperature Doesn't Reach Setpoint
This is not a setpoint issue—check radiator valve operation. Verify room sensor (if used) is reading correctly. Check if radiator is sized appropriately for the room.
Problem: Setpoint Reverts to Old Value
Check that integration is still enabled. Verify no one is changing setpoints in Ally App. Check for automation or schedule conflicts.
Problem: Can't Change Setpoint in Ally App
This is expected behavior. Once integration is enabled, setpoints are controlled from Leanheat Monitor only. The Ally App shows "Home control via Data Integration" banner as a reminder.
