This guide introduces how Ally™ devices work with Leanheat Monitor, giving you centralized control over your heating system. You'll use the Ally App for initial device setup, then manage everything from Leanheat Monitor.
What This Integration Does
Once integrated, Leanheat Monitor becomes your control center for Ally devices:
- Remote temperature control - Adjust setpoints from anywhere
- Centralized scheduling - Manage heating schedules across multiple devices
- Alarm monitoring - Get notified when devices go offline or temperatures fall outside thresholds
- Bulk operations - Update settings for multiple devices simultaneously
- Historical data - Track temperature trends and device performance over time
Supported Devices
The integration supports these Ally™ device types:
- Gateway - Connects your Ally devices to the internet
- Repeater - Extends wireless range for larger installations
- Digital Thermostat (eTRV) - Wireless radiator valve for individual radiator control
- Room Sensor - Monitors room temperature for more accurate control
How It Works: Two Systems, One Control
The integration connects two separate systems:
Ally App: Used for initial device commissioning and setup
Leanheat Monitor: Used for ongoing control and monitoring after integration
Here's the workflow:
- Commission devices in the Ally App (create homes, add devices, set up rooms)
- Create integration in Leanheat Monitor and enable it in Ally App
- Import devices from Ally Home into Leanheat Monitor
- Control and monitor devices from Leanheat Monitor
⚠️ Important: Once integration is enabled, Leanheat Monitor takes control. You'll see a "Home control via Data Integration" banner in the Ally App, reminding you that settings are managed from Leanheat Monitor.
Typical Use Cases
Multi-Building Management
Facility managers overseeing multiple buildings can organize devices by building and floor, then monitor everything from one dashboard.
Centralized Alarm Management
Set up offline alerts and temperature threshold alarms across all devices. Receive email notifications when issues occur.
Bulk Schedule Updates
Change heating schedules for entire floors or buildings at once—perfect for seasonal adjustments or holiday schedules.
Historical Analysis
Export temperature and setpoint data to analyze heating patterns, identify inefficiencies, and optimize energy usage.
Integration Workflow Overview
The complete integration process has five stages:
- Prerequisites - Commission devices in Ally App, ensure correct mode settings
- Account Setup - Create your Leanheat Monitor account
- Integration - Connect Ally Home to Leanheat Monitor via pairing code
- Device Import - Select which devices to manage in Leanheat Monitor
- Configuration - Organize devices into areas, set up alarms, create dashboards
Most installations complete stages 1-4 in about 30 minutes.
What Stays in the Ally App
You'll still use the Ally App for:
- Adding new devices to your Ally Home
- Firmware updates
- Viewing real-time device status (as read-only)
- Managing which homes are integrated
What Moves to Leanheat Monitor
After integration, manage these from Leanheat Monitor:
- Temperature setpoints (Manual, At Home, Away, Pause)
- Heating schedules and periods
- Device lock settings (child lock)
- Alarm rules and notifications
- Dashboard widgets and views
- Historical data exports
Naming Conventions Matter
Before you start, think about device naming. Clear names make everything easier later.
💡 Recommended naming patterns:
For Ally Homes (multi-story buildings):
Create one Ally Home per building/floor combination
Example: "BuildingA_Floor1", "BuildingA_Floor2"
For Devices:
Include building, floor, room, and device type
Examples:
- "BuildingA_Floor3_Room2_eTRV1"
- "eTRV_A.3.2.1" (shorter version)
- "Gateway_BuildingA_Floor1"
This naming structure helps you quickly filter and find devices in Leanheat Monitor's search and classification features.
