In this guide you will learn how to create a new area and edit area structure and layers.
To add a new area navigate to the "Areas" tab in the top menu and click "Add new area" in the bottom left of the screen. Give the new area a name, you also have the option to mark the area as a draft. The area marked as a draft can still be seen by other users who are assigned devices inside of the area.
Once you create a new area you are redirected to the "Edit area structure" page. Here you can add layers and sublayers to the area.
You can assign devices to each layer/sublayer by clicking the "Devices" button above the area structure and then clicking "Assign" on the right side of the screen.
You can manage the devices in layers by either adding them or removing them from a certain layer with the "Manage" button or moving them between layers by clicking the "Move" button.
When clicking the "Move" button you have to select to which layer you will move the devices. You can select the layer by searching for it in the top of the interface that opens up. After selecting the layer to move the devices to click "Next".
In the second step select the devices you would like to move from the selected layer to the newly selected layer.
To upload an image to a layer select the layer by clicking it and then click "Upload" above the layers list. Here you have the option to open the currently uploaded image in draw.io. If you wish to upload an image click "Next", drag and drop the ".svg" file and click "Upload".
You can switch between image and table view of an area by clicking either of the two options in the upper left corner.
